Take A Break - Mountaineering

Image
Take A Break - Mountaineering I found myself holding a branch. The branch, I thought was the only hope I had to survive this situation. Situation? Yes, exactly I was trapped in a grave situation. My friends were way ahead of me, they were no more visible to the naked eye. I was afraid to look down, and find some other means of escape.  The stakes were high - they were closing to the pinnacle of Mt. Kana.  The chest harness was tightening. It was making difficult to breathe.  Just before slipping , I opened my rope in the hope, that it would act as a hook. When I had started climbing, I had tied that rope to my waist. The rope and the branch were my only hope. If somehow the knots loosen, or a huge gust of chilly wind strikes - I had a very slim chance to catch up to friends. I thought they were not experts, but it seems quite the contrary.  I was an intern in a firm. I was the third-highest scorer among the six interns selected. We all were assigned a ...

Mission STS 192

Image
Mission STS 192 "Lofter, if you can hear me - I, Dr. Sarah , confirm that I am the lone survivor of the Mission STS 192" Thankfully, I was in the back control compartment. When the debris hit, I got the information from the control center, and I immediately asked others to enter. Dreworth was the closest to the airlock, but, the airlock was the first part to get in contact with the debris. I quickly went to the Soyuz III and started the procedure of undocking. Thank god, there was fuel. Not filled completely, but thirty percent was filled. The nearest to our current location was ISS and me kind of hoped that thirty percent was enough.  Just as I undocked the Soyuz, there was a knock on the glass. I thought someone survived. I turned towards the window. It was Dreworth, with a solar panel inside his stomach, going through the body. Damn that view, it was enough to recur as a nightmare. I looked back at the vehicle - completely damaged, and had joined other deb...

Old Architecture Building

Image
Old Architecture Building As it goes, there is an old building inside the campus. It takes a straight drive o f a couple of hundred meters from our usual classroom complex to reach that building. But my friend, that drive would be futile, since the gates of the building are eternally lost for the students. Though in the daytime, you could peep into it, in the night, the security guard is strictly against any activity near that building. As the tale goes - they say it's not safe and thus closed.  It had only passed a month, before I and my roommate, Kaka, got the ear of the tale. Neither of us at first believed in it. We were the youngest member of the student community and thus had enough energy with us to take a decision of paying the building a visit in the near future.  The next day, we cycled after the class to the building gate and found nothing queer from outside - just a plain old building. Kaka got a text message. It read - "I overheard you talking with your ...

Faking Corona

There we go - a long holiday (so-called) for the students of the institute. The fear of corona spreading, due to mass gathering led the institution to take this decision. We all could see within half an hour of the decision - the entire institute was aware of it. Even the Bengali students had started their packing, and even funnier some have already left the campus! Students were calling their parents, booking tickets, deciding whether to go or not to go. Amidst all this chaos I received a text message - "Why do you want to know my identity?" Well, I kind of expected this. The reason I thought might be the confession on the confession page, which drew the attention of almost half the sophomores of the department. Someone, French Curve, as the name goes - had written a confusing confession. It was about something which only me and my group of five boys knew exactly. The question that popped was - how could someone know in such detail? And for that very reason, we five ...

I Had To Leave Her Back, Somewhere

I Had To Leave Her Back, Somewhere After a long span, I came back to my home. Home, sweet home!  I was doing some assignments in the afternoon, and suddenly out of nowhere, my mother entered the home, with a small girl. The little child was too happy. Her incisors were indicative of the amount of happiness that she was feeling, meeting new people. I just smiled back - I was too busy completing the assignment.  "What had you for lunch?" asked my mother. "Water - rice" she replied and smiled. "Ony water-rice? Nothing else?" "No. Only water-rice" (How could someone have only water-rice as lunch? LOL!) "Ok, so tell me where did you live before coming back to our neighborhood?" "In Dhenkanal" "Where in Dhenkanal?" "There is a locality named Bhubaneswar in Dhenkanal, we lived there." (Dhenkanal is a different district in Odisha state. And Bhubaneswar is the capital. Bhubaneswar in Dhen...

Lost : A Suspense Writer's Break Up Version

Lost I was on the fifth floor. Morning time. I saw the wristwatch. Brown dull stripes. It was dust, or that was the design I have no idea. It was striking quarter past five. Does anyone wake up this early in the winters? I have seen none here. To introduce myself - I create suspense plots. I have a blog even, where I post these plots! I was wearing slippers, to be specific, bathroom slippers. I felt that the other hand contained a sanitizer, and I came out of oblivion. The mist had thickened. The buildings that were visible from the current stance were concealed in white. The winds though were quite lovable. It could definitely mean cold and cough, and I never wanted to catch any of those early in the semester. Four months are there, and I should reserve certain experiences to enjoy near the exam days if you feel what I mean?! The surrounding was becoming darker white. I wished for a miracle. I knew that it was a holiday. I found it quite difficult to retrace my steps back to m...

One Sided Feelings (Thoughts and Feelings {Final} Ep 02)

One-Sided Feelings "One more cloud joined them later. The face of a great girl, and she has a different place in my heart." Till now you must have realized that since the cloud that bore her face came last, thus she must have come in contact with me in recent times. I couldn't make much out of the sequence of events that occurred till I had the weird thought of walking the steps up to the roof and jump down. Thus I am penning my feelings down so that you all might help me to understand. If I remember correctly, it was in the month of late July that I accidentally met her. A beautiful face - thought at first glance. I had to meet one of my closest friends in the library. God knows, he is always late. No idea, how much I would have to wait today? She was quite focused on her laptop. I didn't want to break the ice. I just began doing my work. I opened my pen, and bang! There was my friend slamming my aching back.  Thirty minutes later, I received a call, and I had to...
